Security for Developers
Security Is Bigger than Finding and Fixing Bugs
Our experiences with the SDL over the last 5 years have taught us that you need to consider security and privacy (but remember, you have to ship too!) very early in the design phase and have a consistent end-to-end process if you truly hope to reduce vulnerabilities and create more-secure software.

Developers Overview of the ADO.NET Entity Framework for Visual Studio
Join us for a "Demonstration Oriented" Developers Overview of the ADO.NET Entity Framework 1.0, Microsoft's new Object Relational Mapping (ORM) tool and technology. If you believe strongly in the tenets of Object Oriented Programming and Design (OOP/OOD), then you are probably familiar with building your own "Data Access Layer (DAL)" that sits between your business logic and the data-tier (your database), and having to build/maintain/support that code. An example of this approach is the Microsoft Enterprise Libraries: Data Access Block.
This presentation will show you where Microsoft is going with the first release (currently in Beta) of a product that allows you to connect to any data-source, using an extensible graphical modeling tool (inside of Visual Studio 2008). In the demonstration, I will show how to create an Entity Model, query it (with LINQ to Entities and Entity SQL) as well as comparing and contrasting it to the traditional ADO.NET Model.

New Developer features Off Internet Information Server (IIS) 7
Learn about new developer features that help make Internet Information Server (IIS) 7 the most flexible, extensible and customizable Web server on the planet. We have rebuilt the extensibility model for IIS7 to be more modular and customizable. We'll cover the new extensibility architecture in IIS7. In IIS7, the core IIS web server functionality is implemented using the same platform that you will use to build your extensions to the server. We'll also show off the new distributed configuration system and how easy it is to deploy applications, including IIS configuration, through simple XCopy deployment. You'll learn about improved support in IIS7 for common Web programming languages like PHP as well as how to do applications using the best of PHP and ASP.NET.

Overview of Microsoft Office Open XML Format
The 2007 Microsoft Office system adoption of an XML-based file format addresses key workplace issues with changes that affect the way we approach solutions based on Microsoft Office documents. This new file format, called Office Open XML Formats (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), improves file and data management, data recovery, and interoperability with line-of-business systems. During this webcast we will learn the benefits of the Office Open XML Formats and explore how users can exchange data between Office applications and enterprise systems using XML and ZIP technologies. Any application that supports XML can access and work with data in the new file format. The application does not need to be part of the Microsoft Office system or even a Microsoft product.
